Introducing Mark

Dr Mark Crosweller has dedicated over 40 years to leadership, resilience and ethical intelligence. As a trusted advisor, speaker and mentor, Mark draws on his extensive career—spanning crisis management, public service and strategic leadership—to guide others through complexity and uncertainty. 

His mission is to help leaders access their innate capacity for compassion, courage and wisdom, fostering ethical and meaningful change.

 Mark’s career spans decades of distinguished service, including leading Australia’s National Resilience Taskforce and serving as Director General of Emergency Management Australia. He also held roles as Assistant Commissioner in the NSW Rural Fire Service and as Commissioner of the ACT Emergency Services Agency.

A trailblazer in disaster management and ethical leadership, he has shaped policies and practices at the highest levels. Mark was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) in 2003, recognising his distinguished service in the New South Wales Rural Fire Service. The AFSM honours members of Australian fire services for exceptional service.

Mark completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Western Australia in 2022 and his thesis has substantially informed his book Compassion in Disaster Management: The Essential Ethic of Relational Leadership which has now been published by Routledge.
